Your Desktop Computer is a small form factor and designed to take up less working space. We ask that you keep the front and rear vents of your machine unobstructed to ensure maximum performance of your machine. Here is some additional information about your Desktop:

  • DelVal utilizes OneDrive to assist with backing up your files. Only the Desktop and Documents folders are backed up. Be sure to visit the Office 365 Section toward the left and the middle of this page for more information.
    • Network Storage is available via the X: Drive. See the Wireless and Networking section of our page. You must submit the Network Access form located on myDelVal.
  • Technology Services has installed software on all university-owned equipment that will automatically run updates for your computer and university-owned software. You may be prompted to reboot your computer. Please keep in mind you will only have the option to postpone the reboot three times before the computer is forced to reboot.
    • We ask that you log off at the end of the day to allow updates to be installed on your machine while you are not here. This will minimize the amount of downtime in your day due to computer maintenance.
  • All DelVal laptops and PC’s are now encrypted, this prevents theft of your data in the event your laptop or PC is lost or stolen.

Please avoid placing items on top of your laptop and remember to store it in a well-padded area, especially if you have a touch screen model.

  • All DelVal laptops come with a docking station unless it was refused. This docking station allows for connections to monitors, hardwired internet connection, and other computer accessories with ease.
    • When docking your laptop listen for a clicking sound, if you do not hear a click your laptop may not be seated correctly.
  • Your laptop is also equipped with external display ports. One is called a Display Port and can easily be confused with an HDMI port.  You will need a display port to HDMI adapter if you need to use this connection. The other port on your laptop is a VGA port and you can connect with a VGA Cable.
