Accessibility Statement and Resources

  • March 2023: Accessibility Statement first developed.

  • August 2023: Shapiro Silent Study Wing reinstated for student use. Noise cancelling headphones and lending laptops purchased and made available.

  • September 2023: The Daniel Tanner Foundation provided a seven-figure gift to renovate the lobby and update the wings and Lower Level. This work took place over the next several months.

  • December 2023: New dimmable lighting installed in Shapiro Wing and Cooke Wing. The Cooke Wing was equipped with a drop-down screen and recording equipment for hosting and broadcasting events.

  • May - August 2024: dimmable lighting added to Lower Level, lobby and Memorial Room. Spaces redesigned with a variety of furniture to meet the needs of a diverse campus of learners.
Shapiro Wing: high-top and normal-height tables, rocking chairs, lounge chairs and couches, group / booth seating, improved study carrels, and movable white boards for collaboration and group study. Furniture spread out to provide ease of access and mobility.
Cooke Wing and Lower Level: large movable tables and improved study carrels for silent study in the Cooke Wing, new chairs and study carrels for Lower Level. Furniture rearranged for ease of access.
Lobby and Memorial Room: repairs made to age and water damage. New furniture and rug added to Memorial Room to make the space a more cohesive-feeling reading room. The Lobby received a new, smaller Circulation Desk and relocated all its printing and scanning equipment to a new Print Center to make way for a variety of casual furniture for students in-between classes. High-top tables, rocking chairs, and lounge chairs were added to make more student space in the lobby. A new layout and additional computer at the Circulation Desk makes it easier for library staff to serve students. The new Print Center enables students to help themselves with printing, scanning, paper-cutting, and organizing their papers. Furniture is spread out to provide ease of access and mobility.

  • September 2024: an additional 30 computers added to library laptop lending program, thanks to a grant. This provides additional long-term laptops to lend to students, and the ability to extend our services to short-term, in-house laptop loaning. Permanent wayfinding signage updated within the building, inspected for ADA compliance.

  • October 2024: added library patron traffic to Library Analytics page (linked to Our Building - Accessibility Page) so patrons can plan their visits at times and busy levels that are comfortable to them.

  • TBD: Additional accessibility work being done on signage (directory of offices). Also working on a Parking and Building Map.
