Each group will pick a company (Example, Kellogg's) and present the history of the company. The group will choose two topics which have been covered or will be covered in class and discuss the application of the topic to your company (Example, one of the topics could be Job Costing and Process Costing for Kellogg's Cereal). The group will then act as the decision-makers of the company and present innovative ideas on how to grow the organization in the near future, so that, they can continue to be a viable and competitive institution.

Mergent Intellect is a wonderful tool for all your business needs, but it can be overwhelming! Some things to note before you dive in:
Here's a quick video on how to use Mergent Intellect's Quick Search.
First Research, one of the modules below Quick Search, has great knowledge tools (Industry Profiles, Call Prep Sheets, State & Province Profiles) that are essential for call preparation, enhancing presentations, underwriting credit, and for quickly learning a company's key business issues.
FIRST RESEARCH GLITCH: when you click on it from the main Mergent Intellect page, it may take you to an error page. From there, click on the big green M for Mergent at the top of the page. From there it will bring you to a page titled Access First Research; enter your DelVal email address and click submit. Then you can access First Research Reports.
An alternative method for retrieving the filings for a company, the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission has a database called EDGAR. All companies, foreign and domestic, are required to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR. Anyone can access and download this information for free. Here you'll find links to a complete list of filings available through EDGAR and instructions for searching the EDGAR database.
The easiest way to search this is with FAST SEARCH, where you use the Ticker Symbol to bee-line to a company's filings. Then you can narrow the file type to "10-K".
